A poke in the eye with a sharp stick, or better

Today, I...

* had continuing internet problems. WEBZ IS BROAK. PLS SEND MOAR NETZ. My very clever wife is going to fix this as soon as she's not at work, which will be Sunday at the earliest.
* got a bonus. Woo! A bullish annoucements of business results for 2008, and a bonus that's in the "very pleasing" category, if not quite in "wildest dreams" territory. Still, good day's work.
* got a new manager. I'll actually miss my old boss, all things considered. New boss starts a week from Monday. We shall see.
* missed Joey's exciting day. I've never really cared about the bodily functions of another person, but we've been making tentative steps towards potty training Joey, with no success. Today, however, she peed in a potty in nursery. I'm a little disappointed to have missed it. It actually really tears me up that she spends so much time away from us each week, but hey, that's reality. The most important thing is that she doesn't mind. In fact, she had a great day: as well as getting a round of applause for urinating, she also got to sit in a fire engine.
* fed some cats that weren't mine. Joey came along with me, and went beserk when she saw the kitties. The kitties were less impressed. So, a chore for me, a treat for Joey, and some kind of awful penance for the cats.
* put together aplaylist on Spotify. One of my favourite websites is Rocklists, a very simple colelction of Best Of... charts assembled from lots of music magazines over the last 30 years. I threw together a list of NME's Top 50 albums of 1993, of which Spotify had an impressive 36. One of the first songs I listened to was Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You", which was... I didn't know I had any unresolved memories tied up with that song, but it seems I do. I just heard the first couple of lines, and this wave of vivid, emotional memory crashed over me, exactly like that feeling you get when you wake up in the middle of a vivid dream. And like a dream, it evaporated quickly, leaving me clueless as to what the memory might have been. It's gone forever now. I think I'm going to need to take notes if I keep listening to this playlist.
